- The air travel is very important for the region as it also provides significant income. If a traveler spends SEK 1 000 in the region and there is 50 000 new travelers, this brings 50 MSEK to the business in the region , says Robert Lindberg, CEO of Skellefteå Airport, in a statement.
Skellefteå Airport is Västerbotten’s second largest airport with a strategic location on the coast between Luleå and Umeå. The airport is owned by Skellefteå Municipality and has about 280,000 passengers per year. The airport offers regular flights with up to five daily departures to Arlanda airport in Stockholm, two flights per week to Barcelona-Girona, and four flights per week to Helsinki via Pietarsaari. Charter traffic is offered to Crete, Rhodes and Turkey.
