Umeå Energi makes it easier for customers to produce their own renewable electricity
juni 27th, 2012
Umeå Energi is now launching net charging, which means that customers who install for example solar cells can supply reduntant electricity to the net – and get deductions on their electricity bill.
- We want to contribute to the production of renewable energy and at the same time helpi customers to easily reduce their energy costs, says Anders Hjalmarsson, Business Developer at Umeå Energi.
Umeå Energi aims to be completely carbon neutral in 2018 and is investing heavily in environmental and climate issues. Now we want to make it easier for individuals to generate their own electricity from renewable sources.
Umeå is located far up in the north of Sweden, but we suffer no lack of sunlight – on the contrary, we are often in top in sun hours.
- Solar cells here produce as much electricity as solar cells in Germany, so we have a privileged position, said Anders Hjalmarsson. With a net charge system there is also no need for the customers to consume the electricity while the sun is up. They still have use for their solar cells.
